On the first day of school the students created five rules together.
1. Be a respectful listener
2. Be in control of your body and brain
3. Treat others the way you want to be treated
4. Respect the environment
5. Work hard, Play hard!
Behavior Management
Every day each student begins with four cards, green = Friday Raffle , yellow = Warning, orange = 5 minutes off of recess, and red = no recess and parent call home in their pocket. When a student chooses to break a rule they will be asked to "Flip a Card." In order to calculate a grade, each card is worth one point with a total number of 4 points per day. You can track your child's behavior grade in the "homeroom" folder on Powerschool or by contacting me.
Dismissal
Child care teachers pick up students going to child care from our room at 2:30 everyday. At 2:37, when the bell rings, I will walk the rest of the students outside on the main deck for dismissal. If we are on an Academic Acceleration week I can only wait with students until 2:40. If your child is still on the deck at that time I will send them to child care to wait for you. Please remember that child care is free until 3:00 unless a sibling is in Academic Acceleration, 3:30.
Academic Acceleration
Each academic acceleration session will last two weeks. This time is for students who are below grade level or who need extra help with a concept. This is mandatory and your child will be marked absent if they leave with having Mrs. Larkin's permission. If there is an emergency and your child can't attend for the day they must be pre-excused by Mrs. Larkin. Our goal is to have your child performing at grade level and this will not happen if they miss academic acceleration.
